We are an established and highly respected team providing a commercial service to the residents of Babergh and Mid Suffolk and beyond. We are working together with an integrated staffing structure to provide a joint Building Control Service across the districts with all the benefits of agile working.

Now the Building Control team at the Councils can offer an exciting opportunity which has arisen for an Assistant Building Control Surveyor post to work across both authorities.

You should have experience of working in building control, have gained a construction related qualification and can carry out plan vets for building regulations compliance,  building inspections on site and ideally be a member of a relevant chartered professional body. 

You should be a natural communicator and be able to influence individuals at all levels.  You will be used to managing your own workload, whilst contributing to team objectives, and making reasoned and sound decisions.

You will be required to assist, as directed by the Corporate Manager and Area Building Control Surveyors, in the effective delivery of a high-quality Building Control service that is self-financing for the Building Regulation element of the service as well as carrying out the statutory functions of the Councils in securing the well-being of our residents.

This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.

A driving licence/car is required for the post. An essential car user allowance is applicable to this post and can be claimed for business mileage.
