Planning Enforcement has a high profile in the Councils and in this role, you will assist and support the Planning Enforcement team in the investigation and enforcement of alleged breaches of planning control.

You will provide front office support and be the initial point of contact for complaints and enquiries to the team.  You will contribute to the efficient administration of the team by ensuring accurate processing and recording of enforcement cases, including the maintenance of computer-based and paper records and plotting and recording information on GIS.  You will be required to research site histories, analyse plans, data and reports and extract relevant information for the preparation of enforcement case files.

It is anticipated that the postholder would be able to provide sound planning guidance at the initial stage to answer enquiries as efficiently as possible.  You will therefore need a sound working knowledge of the development management process in general and the role of the local authority in facilitating and enforcing that process.

As the first point of contact for an enforcement service, you will need to have good communication and influencing skills and be able to deal effectively with people, sometimes in difficult circumstances.

You will be expected to coordinate with your job share 'partner' to ensure the efficient transfer of work and seamless support to the team.

For an informal discussion only, please contact Simon Bailey on (01449) 724558 or email: Simon.Bailey@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk
