We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk - working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

We are now looking for someone to join our team in Building Control with the proper values commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

We are an established and highly respected team providing a commercial service to the residents of Babergh and Mid Suffolk and beyond. We are working together with an integrated staffing structure to provide a joint Building Control Service across the districts with all the benefits of agile working.

This position within our busy Building Control Section will allow you to be involved in all aspects of Building Control and Street Name and Numbering administration by providing administrative support to the team in what is a challenging and busy environment. Experience of working within the construction industry would be desirable but by no means essential as full training will be given.

The role is to provide administration support in all areas of the Building Control service, including the Street Name and Numbering function and the carrying out of estimating, invoicing and collection of fees.

You will assist with the provision of accurate information to discharge Land Charge searches and provide relevant reports to ensure Surveyors and Corporate Managers are kept fully informed and that the council's have met their obligations under the relevant legislation.

Knowledge of the Uniform document management system is preferred but is not essential as full training will be given. You will need to be accurate and methodical in your approach with excellent IT skills and be conversant with the Microsoft Office suite of software. You will have worked in a similar environment and be a flexible and organised person who thrives in a customer focused office.

The role would also provide an excellent route into the world of surveying for anyone wishing to embark on such a career. We take great pride in training our own and full support will be given with enrolment on a relevant degree course and on-the-job training with the aim of achieving chartered membership of a professional body.

You will be based at our modern, air-conditioned head office in Ipswich, with a range of facilities and excellent travel links. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered. Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
