Based in Melton, working across Lowestoft and Ipswich.

On 1 April 2019, we will become East Suffolk Council – a new ‘super district’ authority, replacing Suffolk Coastal and Waveney. It will be the largest district council in the country, providing high quality services to a quarter of a million people across east Suffolk. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to those who need them most.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced  Auditor to join our forward thinking and professional internal audit service. This role will be primarily based at the Melton office, and will provide the opportunity to work across the audit partnerships at Waveney District Council and Ipswich Borough Council.

Your role will be to assist the Internal Audit team in delivering high quality Internal Audit Services and the delivery of good governance and compliance with Information Legislation across the Internal Audit Services Partnership.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking complex, specialist and high risk audits, providing consultancy advice and guidance on risk and good governance. You will also assist in the supervision of the Audit team, mentoring, supporting, developing, training members of the team. You will also be required to deputise for the Audit management team and represent Audit management at committee meetings as appropriate.

You will be IIA/CCAB qualified or equivalent, with a proven track record in delivering internal audit services at a senior level. You will ideally have supervisory experience, the ability to communicate complex issues to non-experts and be able to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.

We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

If you are looking for the next step in your Audit career, why not apply for this exciting opportunity to join our successful modern Internal Audit Service.

Please read the job description and person specification on the right of the page before applying for this job.

For an informal discussion, please call Laura Fuller, Audit Manager on (01394) 444562 or Lauren Ashdown, Audit Manager on (01473) 444902.

Interviews: w/c 11 March 2019.
