Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council are delighted to be participating in the governments Kickstart scheme, offering a number of placements across the organisation to help young people kickstart their future careers and use the opportunity as a stepping stone to further employment.

During the six-month placement you will be supported to develop your skills and confidence and gain valuable experience of working in a real job. We have several roles available including:

HR Assistant

We are looking for a HR Assistant to help support the team in delivering high levels of customer service and also a number of HR projects. This is an oppertunity for anyone interested in administration, Human Resources, Business or working in a professional office environment.

Events Assistant

We are looking for an Events Assistant to help with the planning, delivery and evaluation of a range of events. Events will largely be focused around celebrating Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. It is anticipated that this exciting programme of events will offer the opportunity to work with a large range of people in the local community as well as offering an insight into working in Local Government, with delivery partners and service providers.


This position would suit someone looking to start a career in events as well as offering transferable skills such as responding to correspondence, general administrative skills, communication, data analysis and working in a fast-paced team

You'll be supported every step of the way and alongside your placement will be an inclusive development programme aimed at helping you develop the skills needed for a successful long-term career.

This will include:

  • Work diary templates to be completed to log and evidence skills learnt and highlight any areas of concern etc.    
  • Regular 1:1s with your manager
  • Focussed interactive webinar/group training sessions around topics including wellbeing and mental health, skills and qualities.
  • CV creation, including transferable skills and writing personal statements.
  • Application forms, interview techniques including zoom and face to face.
  • Job search including suggested websites.
  • Comprehensive handouts to accompany each session. 
  • One to one coaching session with  IAG trained careers advisor exploring action plan and careers advice
