Remuneration negotiable

The role commences at the beginning of June 2021 (or earlier if it can be arranged, to provide some overlap with the current support).

This is a flexible, part time role helping a functioning nuclear family who need help because of their disabilities.

The family comprises the parents (in their thirties), and three small children, two of which are at school, and one at pre-school. They live in a pleasant house in which they are settled, with some extended family in the vicinity. The father works locally.

The parents have significant difficulty in coping with the developing needs of the children due to their own learning disabilities, and the children's developmental delay caused by a rare condition affecting at least two of them. The parents need advice, support and practical help in organising their lives, dealing with external contacts and especially in understanding and acting on their children's needs.

There has been a period of local authority supervision of the family, now ended and replaced by this role, which needs to be filled at present due to a family move by the current occupant.

The hours are extremely flexible and do not normally involve childcare although some assistance with transport is often very helpful; (the family has a car but neither of the parents can drive it).

The role involves liaison with the school and nursery, other professionals assisting the family and if necessary, with the local authority.

You will have prior experience of helping people with learning difficulties and with young children, and this might suit a retired teacher or someone with experience of working in social services.

The role is not highly remunerated but the terms and conditions, and level of pay can be discussed in light of your experience and skills and the time commitment you can make.

To apply, please contact David Norton preferably first by email: david.norton@auldham.co.uk or on 07785 774532 via text to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Following a brief discussion about the role, interested parties should supply a brief CV outlining your relevant background. This will be followed by a meeting with the family and then agreement of terms if all parties are happy to proceed.
