This is an opportunity to work within the Lowewstoft and Waveney Early Help Team as a Young Persons Worker to enable young people to participate in education, employment or training.

The responsibility of the Children and Young People’s Directorate (CYP) is to ensure the safety, wellbeing and learning of children and young people. To do so, we need to “make every intervention count” to create impact and bring about sustainable change for children, young people, and their families where need is identified.

We are determined to continuously improve our services by working in partnership to ensure that our work is high-quality and effective.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and / or experience of:

  • providing specific advice and direct delivery on Department for Education statutory requirements of Intended Destinations, September Guarantee and Activity Survey
  • providing consultancy services to learning providers and direct delivery to young people and their families in relation to the SEND reforms
  • supporting colleagues and direct delivery to young people on young people's transition to adulthood and independence with a focus on young people who are NEET or at risk of NEET
  • supporting young people in overcoming barriers to education, employment and training.

You will provide specific support and consultation to professionals, young people and their families who are most vulnerable, including young people with SEND, in care and leaving care, and young parents.

We are seeking an individual who is dedicated to ensuring young people's needs are central to their work and are committed to improving outcomes.

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

For an informal discussion only, please contact Caren Elvin on (01502) 674747.

Please read the Job and Person Profile before applying for this job.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts.
