East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Payables Officer to join our team and deliver high quality financial services. You will provide support to the whole Council regarding finance payables as well as external stakeholders. Therefore, good communication, sound time management and excellent relationship management skills are essential.

Strong analytical skills, a logical approach to problem solving and an eye for detail are also essential requirements for this role. You will be working with a team of finance professionals with a strong team ethic and a drive to continuously improve the services it delivers. The ideal candidate will be a good team player with the drive to actively contribute to improving service delivery.

The suitable candidate will directly manage the payables team, allocating, prioritising, and supervising day to day work. Therefore, good communication and team working skills are essential, and previous line management experience would be an advantage.

Knowledge around VAT accounting and Construction Industry Tax (CIS) would be desirable, along with knowledge of finance systems. However, having the right person in post is our main priority, and training for a suitable candidate will be provided.
