In 2018, a new team was created to enable East Suffolk Council to be at the forefront of the numerous energy related projects proposed in east Suffolk. The Energy Projects Team responds to and interacts with promotors of nationally significant infrastructure projects, such as the new nuclear power station proposal at Sizewell C and the offshore wind proposals in the East Anglia Array, as well as support a number of other more local energy related projects, including the operating Sizewell B station, the decommissioning Sizewell A station, extensions to existing wind farm arrays, and opportunities for interconnectors from Suffolk to Europe.

All these projects require detailed and expert planning knowledge, technical input and project management skills.

The Energy Projects Manager leads the new team as part of our planning services. To support the manager, we are seeking to appoint to this role to work with our affected local communities and other key stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for our area.

The Energy Projects Co-ordinator will provide administrative and project management support to the team and be responsible for the effective day-to-day co-ordination of the team’s activities to ensure delivery of their aims and objectives. This will include developing programmes and management tools to ensure deadlines are met by other team members, calendars are organised and the council’s role in responding to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and determining other major Energy projects are achieved in a timely manner. 

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will need to have an understanding of planning procedures and administrative systems, as well as relevant administrative support experience in a busy office environment, to include minuting / notetaking and the arranging and co-ordinating of events. Excellent organisational and communication skills (written and oral) are essential.

For this post you must be mobile / have access to a car in order to attend business meetings at other sites / locations within the district on a regular basis and be able to work outside normal office hours when required.
