East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We are currently looking for an experienced Planner to provide the planning advice and support role in the two Heritage Action Zones in Lowestoft: The North Lowestoft Heritage Action Zone (NLHAZ) and the High Street Heritage Action Zone (south) (HSHAZ). This involves working closely with the HAZ Project Managers in the north and south.  Duties will involve implementing planning policy measures (including a conservation grant scheme and enforcement) in order to improve the area and stimulate economic regeneration. These positions are funded by Historic England and are based at East Suffolk Council offices in Lowestoft.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development and we’ll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

Please read the job description and person specification before applying for this job.

For an informal discussion regarding this post, please contact Karen Staples on 01502 523214 or karen.staples@eastsuffolk.gov.uk

* 4 year fixed term contract (subject to external funding being secured)

This role can be applied for separately at 0.5fte or can be combined with the High Street Heritage Action Zone Conservation Officer position, where appropriate to make a 1.0fte role
