West Suffolk Council is looking recruit an Environment Officer into the Environment and Energy Team.
The purpose of this role is to deliver high quality environmental regulatory services across West Suffolk with particular responsibility for private water supplies and environmental permitting.
Working as part of our highly experienced and busy team, you will be involved in a wide range of environmental protection work. The role carries out the Council's statutory responsibility for monitoring, reporting, responding to complaints/breaches and the regulation of Private Water Supplies and Environmental Permitting in West Suffolk.
Your day to day role will involve carrying out inspections; investigating complaints and monitoring failures to a successful resolution; working collaboratively with and supporting our customers, businesses and other partners to bring about improvements; complete reports and monitoring data to statutory bodies.
An attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential together with a strong customer service focus. You will be innovative, enthusiastic and committed to providing a high quality service and have an appreciation of the contribution that can be made to the wider environmental agenda. You will need to be motivated, flexible and committed to personal development and able to manage a large and varied workload. You need to be comfortable working in busy and challenging environments and prepared to work outside of normal office hours on occasion.
Site visits are required in a large rural area and so the suitable candidate will need to have the ability to travel throughout the West Suffolk area. You will need to be prepared to work flexibly across the area, with some evening and weekend work.
