Suffolk County Council, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, East Suffolk Councils and West Suffolk Councils are some of the local government authorities responsible for maintaining county wide public sector services within Suffolk.
Our aim is to lead as exemplar employers, offering opportunities to young people who are driven and want to make a difference to the people of Suffolk.
The industrial placement programme is specifically designed for UK undergraduates who are seeking to gain and develop employability skills. This consists of a 39/40 week placement within a chosen council and department.
This placement sits within West Suffolk Councils' new Growth Team, which covers:
- Strategic Planning
- Place Delivery and Strategic Property
- Strategic Housing
- Economic Development and Business Growth.
The service plays a major, high profile role in delivering the councils' strategic priorities for economic growth, healthy families and communities and housing in West Suffolk.
The placement will start in either June or September 2019, so it is a perfect opportunity to invest in your future and gain employability skills.
You can expect to be paid the National Living Wage for your hours worked, and you will be eligible to take annual leave. Business travel expenses, where eligible, will be reimbursed.
Flexible working is actively encouraged throughout the councils.

This placement would suit any candidate looking to become an RICS-qualified Chartered Surveyor under either the Commercial Property or Planning and Development routes.
