Are you passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people in Suffolk and work for a Children and Young People's Service that has been rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted?

Do you want to work for an organisation who are committed to supporting their staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance?

Suffolk County Council successfully won the contract to deliver the 0 - 19 Healthy Child Service for the whole of Suffolk, working across School Nursing, Health and Children's Centres and Family Nurse Partnership and the new Health Business Centre teams.

We are looking to recruit School Nurses (Specialist Community Public Health Nurses) for School Nursing and School Nursing Alternative Provision.

This is an extremely exciting time for our School Nursing teams in Suffolk as we have invested heavily in our school nursing provision with additional frontline staffing capacity to enable the full delivery of the Healthy Child Programme. This additional resource will enable early identification of needs for those within and outside of a school setting and opportunities to work with children, young people and families to improve public health outcomes.

We will provide an enhanced offer to children and young people who are most vulnerable including those with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. Each senior school in the county will have a named health professional from the School Nursing team. You will work with children and young people, both individually and in groups, to promote healthy lifestyles and improve their resilience.

SCC has a long reputation of training School Nurses and there will be opportunities for Staff Nurses to gain experience that could lead to accessing School Nurse training.

We offer an attractive employment package, ideal for keeping a healthy work-life balance, including:

  • term time working
  • Monday - Friday working
  • flexible hours
  • part time hours
  • a car leasing scheme
  • commitment to offering training and professional development opportunities.

If you are as passionate and committed as we are in driving high-quality care and effective outcomes for children, young people and families, please apply or contact Tara Saunders on 07415 799474 or Jo Nelson on 07894 231206 for an informal discussion.

Please see the Suffolk County Council Recruitment Brochure for more information, including Staff Benefits.

Please specify on your application form which areas and job title you are applying for, see the Suffolk Locality Map for further details.

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

Please read the Job and Person Profile before applying for this job.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts. We are also committed to flexible working.  For the types of flexible or part time working available for specific roles, please see the Job and Person Profile.
