Fixed term for 12 months. 

Based at Endeavour House, Ipswich within our Strategic Planning Team.

You will be willing to develop your skills, knowledge and experience; and are passionate about supporting the work we do across many council teams, focusing on housing delivery and supporting people. This post directly supports the corporate objectives of the councils’ joint strategic plan. Knowledge of national housing issues and policies is essential to the successful performance of this role.

During the past 12 months the first ever joint Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils (B&MSDC) Homes Strategy and B&MSDC Homelessness Reduction Strategy have been prepared with a view to adoption in February 2019. The work of the Housing Strategy and Policy Officer role is therefore changing emphasis, from strategy formulation to implementation and support of identified housing priorities, horizon scanning research work relevant to housing, developing policies based on relevant data and evidence, and ensuring we remain aware of innovative yet deliverable housing related initiatives.

Both Housing Strategy and Policy Officers will work to achieve the outcomes relevant to this role, sharing elements of larger projects where appropriate, and being responsible for their own projects and workstreams.
