Based at Endeavour House, Ipswich.

Ref: BMS00038.

It is an exciting time to join a team in Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils who are committed to housing delivery.

This is an opportunity for someone with housing enabling, projects or development experience to lead the work on a growing house building programme on identified sites.

As Senior Development Officer, you will assist the Corporate Manager with operational responsibility for all stages of the development process as well as shaping our approach to building and acquiring new council homes.

You will be responsible for all stages of development including:

  • site identification
  • commissioning work including professional services and construction contractors
  • monitoring the construction
  • supporting the operational budget responsibility for the programme.

To be successful in this role you will need in depth experience of housing in a development, project or enabling role. You will also need experience of negotiation and liaison with partners relating to project delivery and housing provision and experience of project and programme management.

You will need to be able to manage positive relationships with a wide range of partners and be able to negotiate, persuade and influence others at a senior level and achieve agreements and consensus.

You must be well organised, have the ability to manage multiple work streams at different stages of development simultaneously, be able to work under pressure, and be able to prioritise your work.

It is essential that you have good numeracy skills, good report writing skills, are competent at using Office software and have good understanding of development appraisal software.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are committed to agile and flexible working practices (subject to business need). We believe that work is something we do and not somewhere we go; we want our staff to feel enabled and empowered to fully embrace these opportunities.

Based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, we can offer great opportunities for training and development and we will give you all the support you need.

We offer flexible working options, a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and a pension scheme.
