On 1 April 2019, we will become East Suffolk Council – a new ‘super district’ authority, replacing Suffolk Coastal and Waveney. It will be the largest district council in the country, providing high quality services to a quarter of a million people across east Suffolk. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to those who need them most.
We are the largest provider of social rented housing in the Waveney District with 4,434 units and an annual Repairs and Maintenance budget of £6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy, we have started a programme of Housing Development which will increase the Council’s stock holding to approx. 5,100 units by 2023, and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and skilled individual with a sound background in the building maintenance, construction and refurbishment field to aid us with our aspirations.
In this new role, you will monitor and oversee the operational costs incurred by the Housing Maintenance service, provide job cost quotes for projects on behalf of private customers and review the overall financial performance of the service. The Council has aspiration to expand additional revenue streams and within this role you will work with potential private customers to understand their work requirements and offer solutions to find the most efficient and cost effective methods to deliver them.
Strong analytical skills, a logical approach to problem solving, and the ability to identify opportunities, efficiencies and improvements in the work services are essential requirements for this role.
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we’ll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options, a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
