An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the council's in-house legal team.

You will be part of the team that provides a comprehensive property based legal service to all members and officers of the council. This includes dealing with residential and commercial sale and purchase, providing advice on S.20 consultations, buy backs, advising and drafting leases, licences and s.38 agreements, deeds of surrender, easements and variations, together with reviewing relevant papers for the council's committees and executive as necessary.

You will provide a legal service to cover the whole spectrum of legal advice required and generally assist the Lead Lawyer and Operational Manager to provide timely and well managed cost-effective legal services to the council and other clients.

You will be a qualified Solicitor / Barrister or have attained an Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) qualification, with 2 years' post qualification experience. You will have proven experience of providing advice and representation over a range of difference fields of expertise, as well as the ability to develop new areas of knowledge within the fields of law.

You will have proven experience of evaluating evidence and negotiating settlements and the ability to identify and manage risks with proven research skills. You may be required to work outside of normal working hours and attend evening meetings where necessary.
