If you are looking for a career as a professional librarian, are self-motivated, creative, innovative and determined, this role will provide you with an excellent foundation on which to build your practice.

The University of Suffolk Department of Library and Learning Services is excited to be able to offer a comprehensive five-year Graduate Trainee Librarian role, designed to provide pre and post qualificatory experience, professional qualification and fellowship of Advance HE.

Located in the Department of Library and Learning Services, this role offers you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of work in a Higher Education Library, and develop a range of skills in line with the CILIP Professional Knowledge and Skills Base. You will undertake work as part of the Library Services Team and Academic Development Team, developing skills in problem solving, marketing and promotion, staff supervision and development, budget management, collection development and information literacy. During the first 3 years, you will undertake and complete a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information management. Subject to successful completion, you will progress to a post-qualification 2 year role, offering further skills consolidation. In the latter position, you will achieve the University Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice to Advance HE accreditation.
