The Sensory and Communication Service, a progressive and dynamic team, is seeking to recruit a Sensory Support Practitioner with an ability to support visually impaired children and young people in their home and in schools. You will work alongside our specialist teachers, promoting the use of visual access adaptions to teaching and learning, with our children and young people, to develop their independence, whilst ensuring their safety and welfare.
- have good communication skills
- be confident in working with children and young people who have visual access needs, and their learning settings
- have the highest standards, be able to deliver change quickly and willing to give your all.
In return, you will have the satisfaction of being part of a strong and vibrant service that makes a real difference for children and young people every day.
Skills in the use of Braille, Braille technology, and in making tactile learning resources would be an advantage, but training will be given if necessary.
In Suffolk we are building a team that can deliver services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, that are among the best and most innovative in England. Our new management team is passionate about transforming the experiences of Suffolk children, young people and their families.
We are working closely with our family representatives and our partners in health and social care and we have made improvements, but we still have a great deal to achieve and if you share our values and ambitions, we would love you to join our team.
For an informal discussion please contact Jonathan Bolt on 07860 779126 or (01473) 264717.
