Getting your first teaching role.

You are part way through your teacher training and now is the time to focus on getting your first post. There may be lots of jobs out there but you still need to find the right school for you.

How are you going to get the most out of the process?

Take time over your application
Use good examples that show your skills and experience and make sure to check your spelling and grammar, remember you are creating a first impression.

Visit schools you are interested in
Schools like to know that you are interested in them and you can check that the school is right for you.

Prepare well for interview
Have examples prepared from your classroom experience that you can talk about confidently, show that you can reflect on what went well and what you would do differently.

Keep it simple
If you are asked to deliver a lesson or activity, pick something that you know works well and is targeted at the right age group

Be honest about your options
You may have more than one interview or offer, be honest and let schools know if you are weighing up your options.
