East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Procurement Team. This apprenticeship opportunity could be your ideal first step on the career ladder in the Purchasing and Supply Chain field.
Have you ever thought about how all the things needed for a new building, an event or even the latest Technological device all end up where they need to be at the right time to make it work? This is down to Procurement and Supply Chain; putting together suppliers and buyers and creating contracts to make successful outcomes.
The public sector gives us a challenging framework of regulation to work within to do this and tight budgets in which to do it. This means we need people who enjoy pushing boundaries, solving problems and getting the best results for the Council and the people in the district in which we work.
The role will be supporting the procurement team in administrative functions as well as implementing a succession of changes to make procurement fit for an innovative council and as you become more experienced, getting involved in the design and project management of procurement exercises.
For the right candidate (and funding permitting) this could lead into a full, internationally recognised, procurement qualification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) over the next few years. This will start with the level four Diploma qualification.
You will need to be educated to GCSE level with English and maths. You should understand administrative processes, be computer literate and have some interest in buying, negotiation or contract management.
Most importantly you will be creative and innovative in approaching problems, be organised and able to meet challenging deadlines, react well to changes, work well within a team environment and be able to communicate your thoughts and ideas.
So, what can we offer you in return?
- A supportive environment in which to develop your potential.
- A fully funded and supported Level 4 Diploma Qualification with the possibility of progressing to a Level 6 Professional Qualification in Procurement and Supply chain Management.
- Generous annual leave entitlements and high street discount scheme.
- Valuable work-based skills from day one.
- The opportunity to meet and work alongside other apprentices in the organisation.
- Multiple training courses and development opportunities to add to your CV.
