Ranelagh is a growing primary school in the heart of Ipswich with 300 pupils on roll.  We are a vibrant, diverse and inclusive community; committed to ensuring that all of our pupils are protected and safeguarded to the very best of our ability. Through high standards of pastoral care and support for children’s social, emotional and mental health needs our aim is to ensure that our children are given the best possible start in life so that they can achieve their potential.

In order to expand our existing pastoral team in school, we are seeking an experienced Family and Pupil Welfare Lead. The Family and Pupil Welfare Lead will work within our Inclusion Team and report directly to the Inclusion Lead. This is a key role in the school as this post is the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead, e-Safety Lead, Prevent Lead, Attendance Lead and a member of the school's Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • actioning all child protection concerns
  • safeguarding pupils
  • liaising with families and other agencies to identify need, implement appropriate early help and ensure that this has a positive impact on children's life chances.

You will be required to:

  • train staff and volunteers
  • meet with parents
  • assess needs
  • liaise with other agencies
  • attend multi-agency meetings
  • keep meticulous records
  • evaluate the impact of the support provided

You will manage your own diary within your employed hours. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a family support role and / or for one of the many agencies that currently work with schools. You will have excellent people skills, be highly organised and self-motivated. Full training will be offered to meet the statutory requirements of the role. Please see the job description in the related information section for further information.
