The Head of Assets and Investment is a completely new and exciting role at Suffolk County Council. Councils are increasingly looking to adopt more commercial ways of thinking and this strategic role will be at the forefront of developing and embedding a creative, commercially-focussed vision for and culture of investment and income generation for the county council, focused on its property assets and the procurement of services.

You will work with the Deputy Chief Executive, the Corporate Leadership Team and the council’s Cabinet to progress the council’s commercial agenda, collaborating with partners in the public, private and voluntary sector and building on a strong foundation of work completed to date and a reputation for excellent local public services. The role will be the focal point for corporate initiatives underway such as One Public Estate, Social Value Act implementation and the Suffolk Business Growth Strategy. 

We need you to:

  • demonstrate experience and skill in high-level negotiations and relationship management
  • lead a service area though change
  • have the ability to effectively influence relationships with suppliers.

We are looking for a team-player with a creative and commercial outlook, recognising and proactively taking advantage of new opportunities and bringing forward ideas for our existing portfolio of assets, whilst overseeing a high-quality and professional property and procurement service.
