This is an exciting new joint post between Suffolk County Council and NHS Ipswich & East and NHS West Suffolk CCGs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be a system leader improving health and wellbeing and decreasing health inequalities across Suffolk. You will be employed by Suffolk County Council (SCC) and managerially accountable to both the Executive Director of People in SCC and the Chief Officer of NHS Ipswich & East and NHS West Suffolk CCGs. 

You will be the accountable lead for Public Health and discharge the local authority’s duties to improve public health for all Suffolk residents. You will also be accountable for the leadership and management of the Public Health team within SCC and the associated budget of approx. £35M. 

Working closely with the NHS and others in SCC you will agree future integration of the Public Health function within Alliances and the ICSs to maximise the effectiveness of Public Health responsibilities (including the Knowledge and Intelligence function) for Suffolk residents. You will also lead on the co-ordination and development of the Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Board.

Terms and Conditions will be Joint National Council (JNC) although there is potential for an NHS consultant contract for those with appropriate background and experience.
