An opportunity has arisen within the Family Solutions Team for Family Support Practitioners to both support the work of existing team members and take the lead in providing intensive support to young people (aged 12 and over) who are either:

  • on the edge of care
  • currently “CiC” (children in care) and the plan is for reunification
  • in an immediate crisis (including homelessness) that would require them to become a Child in Care if no action was taken.

The team works from the three main hubs of Riverside (Lowestoft), West Suffolk House (Bury St Edmunds) and Landmark House (Ipswich).

Working as part of a strong and emerging county wide team, you will share responsibility for providing intensive support to young people and their families. To do this you will be required to work flexibly with visits at times that the family are at home, including evenings and occasionally some weekend hours.

Caseloads within the team are kept deliberately low to enable support to be provided at the level required to achieve sustainable change.

As well as having a keen interest and knowledge of working with adolescents and their families, we are seeking practitioners who are keen to further develop their skills in direct work and Solution Focused practice.

For an informal discussion only please contact Russell Woolmer, Practice Manager on 07717 302628.

Please read the Job and Person Profile before applying for this job.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts. We are also committed to flexible working.  For the types of flexible or part time working available for specific roles, please see the Job and Person Profile.
