Suffolk Family Carers is a respected charity that is passionate about delivering services to meet the needs of family carers of all ages. We provide a range of services to support adult, young adult and young carers across Suffolk.

Working in partnership with Wellbeing Suffolk, we have two newly created roles focused on the wellbeing of family carers. Wellbeing Suffolk provide a range of support for people with common mental health and emotional issues, such as low mood, depression or stress, working work with people to help make changes to improve wellbeing and quality of life.

You will be employed by Suffolk Family Carers, but will be working as part of the Suffolk Wellbeing Service.

The role of Peer Worker will involve supporting individuals, who have a family carer role, by sharing their own experiences of being a family carer and guiding them to information, advice and assistance available, as well as encouraging practical steps to promote emotional wellbeing.

You will assist the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in the delivery of group interventions, alongside providing 1:1 peer support in the community, enabling people accessing the service to get the most out of the interventions and to develop a personalised wellbeing plan.

You should have an understanding of the issues faced by family carers, experience of being a family carer as well as the ability to work in enabling and creative ways. You will need to be an organised individual who plays an active part within the team, contributing positively and in a solution-focused manner.

The ability to travel across the county, including rural locations is essential. You will be subject to an Enhanced DBS, which will be carried out as part of the pre-employment process.
