An inclusive Catholic Community where great learners are educated to reach a fullness of life through growth, mastery and teamwork.
We require a practicing Catholic who is an experienced people manager, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to engage with and motivate students, staff and parents.
Leading with empathy and rigour, you will have the focus and drive needed to manage the whole school with a meticulous approach to monitoring.
This is an exciting time for the school; following Schools' Organisation Review, Suffolk moved from a three-tier system to two-tier, the result of which meant that the school has been working across two sites since 2016. From September 2019, all students will be on one site. You will be instrumental in leading the final phase of this transition alongside the project manager.
St Benedict's is an average sized comprehensive school, serving the faith community of West Suffolk, described as 'Good with an outstanding sixth form' by Ofsted (September 2016). The school is noted for its student care and wide curriculum. In 2017, it was rated in the top 250 secondary schools in the country.
St Benedict's offers a Catholic education to both baptised Catholics and other families of differing denominations, faiths or none, who value the inclusive caring ethos, outstanding pastoral values and high academic standards.
We want families to choose our school, knowing that all students will be encouraged and supported through innovative learning to develop their skills and aspirations to achieve their full potential. As an effective whole school leader, you must be able to motivate staff and manage their performance to achieve excellence in all the school does.
You will be a visible presence within the school, local community and Pyramid. The importance of promoting the school in these increasingly challenging educational times will be a priority.
The school has a committed governing body, which is leading this recruitment. The Local Authority and Diocese will work closely with you to ensure support and development and you will enjoy a talented and supportive body of teaching and support staff.
Our Catholic school reaches out and is very much part of the local community in beautiful, historic Bury St Edmunds, a growing market town enjoying excellent transport links to London, Cambridge and Norwich with easy access to the coast.
Informal visits are warmly encouraged. Please contact Stephanie Buchan, Headteacher's PA on (01284) 753512 (ext 2226) or email: email@example.com to arrange.
Final day of Autumn Term, 21 December 2018.
School reopens for a PD Day 7 January 2019.
