In May 2017, Newmarket Academy was rated 'Good' by Ofsted. We invite you to join this small, happy ambitious school on the next stage of our journey to excellence.

We want to be the best school in the area, and as such are looking to recruit an ambitious and innovative colleague to play a major role in that journey.

Required from September 2019, we are looking for a mathematics teacher to join our enthusiastic and successful team of mathematics specialist teachers. We want you to share our team's passion for teaching and learning; someone who is keen to motivate and challenge our students.

We follow the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics course and use the Mathematics Mastery scheme of work and approach to learning from Year 7 - 11, a scheme that is interleaved and enriched with problem solving, collaborative working and interactive activities throughout.

Our mathematics department is an incredibly supportive team of professionals who are supported by an excellent leadership team; who draw on the wider trust for additional support, professional development and career progression opportunities. Results within the department have improved significantly in recent years, and it is now one of the most successful in the academy; hungry to secure even further improvements.

In the summer of 2018, the school began a multi-million-pound refurbishment project of every classroom with state of the art interactive whiteboards and sound systems and brand new computers for staff and students, and by August 2019, will include a superb new SEND area, Engineering department, audio-visual equipment and tennis courts.

We offer:

  • a well-being day each year
  • the opportunity for career progression within first two years
  • access to the training and professional development programmes of the Teaching and research schools in the trust
  • a very experienced NQT mentor programme.

For more information, an application pack or to arrange a visit, please contact Gill Guenigault on (01638) 664412 or email:

Interview date: w/c 17 December 2018.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts.
